The Holy Eucharist is the sacrament and sacrifice for the
dedication of the wine to become the body and blood of Christ. Saint Tomas de
Aquino that the Eucharist is the best of all sacraments because the Eucharist
not only receives the grace we need but we receive Christ as one who gives
grace. In the Eucharist, we receive the whole Christ his body, blood, soul, and
Godhead. The Eucharist is the spiritual food that gives health to our souls.
The holy church instructs believers to receive the privilege of at least one
year.
Now, what does the bible say about the Eucharist?
In the book of John Jesus Christ said that he is the bread,
but that is not literal because he is not a bread but man! Look at the book of
Saint John;
John 6:51
51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever
eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give
for the life of the world.”
More refference: Mathew 26:26-30
More refference: Mathew 26:26-30
It is clear that he declared his body as the bread! But why
Catholic Church celebrates the Holy Eucharist? Because Jesus Christ said to do
so. Look at the letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians;
1 Corinthians 11:24
24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This
is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
On that verse, we can see that Paul celebrating the breaking
if the bread, and what he says is; Jesus Christ command us to do same as the
remembrance of him. Got it? I hope so.
So, we can say that breaking of the bread or celebrating the
Holy Eucharist is the doctrine taught by Jesus Christ. That is what Paul said
in the 1 Corinthians 11:23. If you have any questions about this, just leave a
